Our mission is to have dispersed 2,000 Blankets/Quilts of Love, to abandoned infants and children with HIV/AIDS, both locally and worldwide by the end of every year. Our vision is to "Spread Love", with the blankets, to help others "Overcome Fear", through education and awareness, and to "Conquer Dis-ease!" These tokens of love will represent our "hands", while our prayers activated with faith will represent our "hearts". A.I.D.S. believes that the life you touch may very well be the life that you save!
Description:
A.I.D.S. makes "Blankets/Quilts of Love" for abandoned infants and children with HIV/AIDS. We also accept gently new/used clothing, toys and small/medium sized teddy bears. We teach children and teens ages 7-17 how to make these items while also providing classroom instruction on HIV/AIDS awareness. We need many volunteers who can make and donate their time to making these items for our organization.
History:
A.I.D.S. is a non-profit, non-denominational 501c3 organization in the Charleston area since September 2006. While the pandemic is in countries such as Africa, Indonesia and Russia, we believe that beginning in our own state will begin to impact and make a difference for us to go abroad. Every child, we believe, should have a blanket to call their own! We currently are sending these blankets to Acres of Love in California, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa and are supporting MUSC's OPAC (Outpatient Pediatric Aids Clinic).
