Free tax preparation and electronic filing service available to low- to moderate-income individuals throughout the Tricounty area. Volunteer greeters are asked to
▪ Greet clients coming into the sites.
▪ Assist in gathering preliminary information on intake sheet and
▪ Ensure that individuals have the proper taxpayer documents in order to receive services(e.g. W-2, 1099’s, last year’s return, W-2’s, SSA cards, etc.)
▪ Maintain a sign-in sheet
▪ Answer taxpayer questions about site procedures and services available at site.
▪ Monitor site traffic to ensure that sufficient time is allowed for all taxpayers being checked in to receive assistance
If the screener will be answering tax law questions, volunteer must complete the 12-hour IRS intermediate tax law and software training -- Tues., Dec. 8, 5-9pm; Thurs, Dec. 10, 5-9pm; and Mon, Dec. 15, 5-9pm at the Charleston County Library on Calhoun Street.
